Ok, I resisted reading this for a while. I honestly don't know why except that the cover turned me off from it. Yes, I judged a book by its cover, go ahead and laugh. I actually decided to read it because it came so highly recommended by John Green. He posted a few book recommendations on their youtube channel and he raved about this book so I thought I would give it a try.
I really liked the book. Jenny Han does a good job showing the emotions of being a young adult. I felt the character's embarrassments and disappointments and giddiness right along with her. The premise of the book is that Lara Jean writes down her feelings for the boys in her life in order to purge them and move on with her life, but somehow, these letters get sent out and she has to deal with the repercussions.
I have to admit I cringed really hard at the idea of the innermost private feelings of a preteen me being sent out to the guys I had crushes on, but Lara Jean handles it as best she can (and quite terribly at times). It's a really funny heartfelt book with some beautiful family relationships in it as well.
I do have to warn you (since I had NO IDEA) this book ends with a cliffhanger and is part of a series. The sequel is PS I Still Love You and the third book comes out this year.
Rating: 4 Stars.
