There was a certain level of excitement for all of us as we anticipated the arrival of another Harry Potter book. Just knowing there is more out there for me to read is such an uplifting experience. This book, written in the form of the play currently in London, follows the story of Harry Potter's son, cursed to be HARRY POTTER's son.

To begin with, the book was well-written, but the play format definitely impacted my enjoyment. I've always loved the way JK Rowling described places, people, emotions, and scenes. In a play you get almost only dialogue which left me yearning for those other things.

The book definitely pulled on my heartstrings and I truly felt sympathy for the children of these famous wizards. I even had a bit of a hard time reading it early on because it made me so deeply sad for them. In that sense the writing was brilliant.

My only complaint is that I didn't feel that Harry and the gang really needed to be in it that much. I don't need them thrown in with numerous reminders of the original series in order to enjoy a story. I almost wish they'd barely been in it except through the eyes of their children. There were so many references to the original series that there wasn't much that was new.

I liked it and I do recommend it, silly as parts of it are. What I REALLY want though, is more books set in the HP universe and completely unrelated to his story. That's why I am so excited for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
