Oh, Neil Gaiman. He's done it again. I always forget how much I enjoy short story books until I'm holding a good one in my hands. I think it takes immeasurable talent to immerse someone so completely in a story that only spans a few pages. It also suits my busy life and short attention span this week.

Short story books are especially difficult to review, because I loved the book as a whole, but there were stories that went over my head and stories that bored me, right alongside stories that left me screaming 'WHAT HAPPENED NEXT??'

Let me put it this way, there's a short story that is essentially an episode of Doctor Who. Spending just a few more minutes with 11 and Amy Pond is worth anything. Personally, the true value of reading Gaiman's short stories is that they make me write. They give me these short bursts of confidence that I might have ideas worth sharing and I'll always love him for that.

4 stars.
