Top Five Memories of 2015

As I think back on this year, I realize that it was packed with so much more than I give it credit for in the day-to-day. Before I compiled this list I genuinely thought it was a quiet, uneventful year. I was so wrong.

5. Receiving my master's degree - weird that this is last on the list, but I did spend a full year of my life immersed in some challenging and rewarding situations which ultimately led to my becoming a teacher. I don't regret a moment of it, nor do I look forward to re-living it anytime soon.

4. NerdHQ - getting to watch Nathan Fillion host a panel for Doctor Who in a small room is something I will certainly not forget. It was a surprise that I have to admit I may have "squee-ed" to, but I am not ashamed. The panel itself was not a letdown either and I'm very grateful to the Nerd Machine for putting it all together.

3. Meeting Pierce Brown - all of ComicCon was an incredible adventure that absolutely lived up to the hype I'd built up all of these years. Of all of those fun memories, meeting Pierce Brown was the most exciting. I stood in line for such a long time, but when he finally greeted me he was so sweet and complimentary. It's such a pleasure when you admire someone's mind and creativity so much and then you meet them and they're just as wonderful a person.

2. Star Wars!! - I realize that the memories on this list are actually as much about anticipation as they are about the actual moment. It's hard for something to live up to the hype you've built around it. Therefore, when it does, the enjoyment is multiplied. That was no truer than when I went to see The Force Awakens in theaters. I'm still remaining spoiler free, but I was beyond pleased with the results.

1. Hamilton - I waited 3 years for this youtube video rap to become something more and it was more than I could have ever imagined. I had the tremendous pleasure of attending this play during previews (on opening weekend) and when tickets were not only accessible, but affordable. I still want to see it again and again and I can't recommend it highly enough. For anyone who has spent 5 minutes with me or perused this blog at all, it'll come as no shock that this was my number one memory from 2015.
