In anticipation of the new Star Wars movie and in observance of today's hurricane Joaquin-related downpours I decided to begin marathoning the old movies. I have been wanting to do this for a long time, particularly because I had read a very long blogpost here about the perfect order for watching these movies.
I was afraid to watch all of the originals first, then leave off with the disappointment of the newer ones (as we all did in real life). And I couldn't imagine watching them in chronological order either, so I attempted the "machete order" and loved it.

What I love about A New Hope is that you're thrown completely into this world without much of a prelude. Things aren't explained to you. There aren't many asides where people remind each other of their own history. You pick it up as you go along and you feel like it must be a true world. It goes on whether or not you are there to watch it. And of course Empire Strikes Back does not disappoint as a sequel. Then you flashback to Anakin's origin story (leaving out Episode I for obvious reasons) and end of the high note of Return of the Jedi.
All while enjoying some theme-appropriate Star Wars Kraft Mac&Cheese (I couldn't help myself. the box had R2D2 and said "Beep boop")
