"Throwback"

The Saturday before the first day of school some friends and I decided to try something we'd never done before. We went whitewater tubing. This experiment in adventure landed us at the Potomac River in West Virginia (a place where we certainly stood out).

This summer I've been quite lax in my "summer bucket list" having completed minimal items from it, so I felt like I needed to knock a few out with one activity. I (1) tried something new (2) spent a day doing a water activity and (3) swam in a lake*

This hilarious experiment involved no supervision, no training, no tips. We were given life vests and tubes and sent out on the water. There hasn't been much rain this summer so the water wasn't very high and there were very few rapids. Most of the day was spent on a lazy river, but our group was separated right away and we spent about 3 hours trying to get back to each other. Incredibly, I ended up running onto every rock out there. We all left with battle wounds and bruises and so many stories. It was wonderful.

When i went to Puerto Rico I purchased an underwater camera for our snorkeling adventure that never was. I brought this camera along to WV. It is remarkably hard to find a place that still develops film these days. I feel like it was just yesterday that "1 Hour Photo" places were the biggest thing around. I feel old. Anyway, 3 weeks later, I share my experiences, because I guess that's how long it takes to get pictures developed in the 21st century.

*it was a river, but whatever, don't judge.
