It has been a while since I shared another one of my writings. I try to do it somewhat regularly. It is an exercise in self-confidence. If I won't share this blog with people that I know, then I must at least have the courage to share some of my writings.
Another children's poem. This is autobiographical (yes, as a child I was so self-centered that I truly believed that tulips bloomed just for my birthday)

Happy Birthday Tulips
Every year, without a doubt
Just for me, the tulips come out
They sit and they wait, all year real snug
For the perfect time to give me a hug
They never miss it, they're never tardy
They make it in time for my birthday party
The purples and pinks and yellows too
Pop out just to sing "happy birthday to you!"
But this year, you see, I'm a little distressed
For The tulips and roses, and all of the rest
The springtime was cold, and rainfall was fickle
And any spring blooming was only a little
They missed it this year, but I won't cry
If they come out just once so I can say hi
I'm sitting here waiting, all dressed in my best
By my garden of tulips and all of the rest
When the soil is ready and the earth is made new
I can say to the tulips "happy birthday to you!"
