Eid Mubarak everyone! My family and I just finished celebrating the end of Ramadan with a holiday called "Eid al-Fitr" which translates to "celebration of the feast." It sure is. In preparation, we spent the entire day prior to that making and decorating cookies to enjoy on Eid.

We recently obtained an adorable cookie-cutter novelty set complete with a crescent moon, star, geometric star, lantern, and mosque shape. Of course, as with all things we do together, some of the cookie-decorating got quite silly, but in the end they tasted great and made for lovely gifts!

Rolled Sugar Cookies
This recipe makes over 50 cookies (and some of these cookies are HUGE)
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups butter, softened
2 cups white sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp vanilla (pinch powdered)
5 cups all purpose flower
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
Instructions:
1. In bowl of stand mixer, cream together butter and sugar.
2. Beat in eggs and vanilla
3. Slowly stir in flour, baking powder, and salt.
4. Cover dough with plastic wrap, place in refrigerator, and chill for 1 hr-overnight.
5. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
6. On a generously floured surface roll out dough (1/4-1/2 inch thick).
7. Cut into shapes and place on cookie sheet.
8. Bake 6-8 minutes. Remove and allow to cool before decorating.*
*if you are using a glaze on the cookies, apply this while cookies are still fairly warm.
