“Everyone can perform magic, everyone can reach his goals, if he is able to think, if he is able to wait, if he is able to fast.” ― Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha

Today marks the first day of the Muslim month of fasting: Ramadan. For everyone Ramadan is a little different. it varies from country to country, community to community, and household to household. To me, Ramadan is about renewal, spiritualism and focus, and togetherness.

During Ramadan, we fast from sun-up to sun-down. We don't eat, drink, smoke, or engage in other behaviors. At the end of the day, to break fast, families and friends get together and eat their meals, talk and laugh, and pray. It a beautiful time of year (particularly when it falls in the winter and the days are shorter).

We also try to participate in more charity work, help the needy, and remember the misfortunate. Those people who experience this kind of hunger regularly. Ramadan ends with a big beautiful bash called Eid al-Fitr (celebration of the feast)! I look forward to sharing my Ramadan with you all!
