"We don't sweat, we sparkle"

Just thought I'd share that I've accomplished one of my new years resolutions today! Finally ran a 5K!
That may seem like a very simple task, it's only 3 miles after all, but I am NOT a runner. At all. I love walking. I can walk for 14 miles without getting tired (I've tried). Running is something I've never been any good at. I'm a sprinter. In my soccer days I could sprint to the ball, give it a kick upfield and crawl back to my position to do it again in a few minutes. Long distance, though? Forget about it.
That's not the only reason I did this. I ran this 5K as a coach/member of Girls on the Run. This is an amazing organization that works with young girls from 3rd-8th grade. Aside from running practice twice a week, the girls have mini-lessons and activities on self-esteem, healthy living, and all things 'girl power'. I'm a fan of this organization's message and goals and I'm proud to have run alongside these wonderful ladies!
edit 5/31/15: I strained my groin on the run. It hurts like hell. This is to emphasize the importance of sufficient stretching before and after any kind of physical activity
