“Wherever you go becomes a part of you somehow.” ― Anita Desai

I love traveling. Being a world traveler is a huge part of my identity. You wouldn't really guess it from this site so far because I've been very limited in my travel lately. What with paying a fortune to work full time and making no money, it's very difficult to find the time and funds to go abroad. I still find myself with that itch to explore and wander.
This is giving me an appreciation for the beauty of the place I'm in. Exploring DC, Virginia, the east coast, the USA. I may not have left the country in the past year, but I've explored Vermont, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia. And don't forget Puerto Rico! So, yea. It may not be the most exciting thing, but I still get my wanderer's fascination from road trips up the coast.
That leads me to upstate NY. Memorial Day weekend I spent 2 days in the suburbs of Syracuse, NY with family. We didn't do all that much, but I got to see a new place and that's always a wondrous thing.
We went to downtown Syracuse late at night for some great, relaxing tea. It helped me get my zen back after sitting in the car with my family for 8 straight hours. I ordered some relaxing Rooibos @ the Roji Tea Lounge while my family munched on amazing smelling cinnamon cookies

The next day we enjoyed spending the day in a small town on the fingerlakes called Skaneateles. It's filled with shops, old houses converted into inns and libraries, and restaurants. We got some refreshment and then just sat on the lake and stared into the unbelievably clear water for a while. There's a great little ice cream shoppe there, but I never caught the name. There's also an amazing olive oil and vinegar shop with all kinds of flavored oils and vinegars. Never thought you'd enjoy strawberry infused balsamic? guess again!

Other than that, we sat out on the deck in the world's most perfect weather, played cards, and laughed endelessly (mostly because my grandma was on a roll roasting all of us). The weather was so incredible that I am actually at a loss for words to describe it.
