As a rule, I'm inclined to enjoy books and movies. I might be the only one leaving a theater saying "what a great movie!" and I'm okay with that. That's why I always feel a little strange when I finish a book and feel ambivalent towards it.
I guess I expected something creepy and mysterious and fast-paced. I wanted a page turner, which I've found in a lot of YA books. Instead, I vaguely enjoyed it, but possibly because I read the book outdoors in gorgeous weather. I found myself pushing to continue. I can't quite put my finger on it, but the book never sucked me in. I had high expectations and it came highyl recommended, but I haven't run out to buy the sequel.
I gave it 3 stars. The pictures were cool and I love the concept of using "found" pictures to create a story, but the protagonist wasn't very relatable and the adventure never had me on the edge of my bench.
I really wanted to like it...
