Haymarket Festival of Spring

Last year my dad and I randomly happened upon something called "Holland in Haymarket" which is an annual tulip festival hosted by Burnside Farms. Not only can you enjoy the gorgeous views of tulips and daffodils, but you can pick your own flowers and pay for them as you exit.

Today we took my sister and brother-in-law and sought them out at their new location. Last year we went at the peak of the season, whereas this year we caught them on their last day. While that meant half priced flowers, it also meant that we were picking through whatever had survived the hot spring and previous visitors.

Both times I've gone I've seen families all dressed up for photoshoots, couples on dates, and little children in the cutest dresses running through the fields of flowers. If you live in the area and want to try something cute and different, I'd give this place a visit. It costs $4 at the door or $7 for a season pass. They accept credit cards.

Even though Tulip season is over, Dutch Irises should be popping up sometime this month and throughout the month of July they have stunning varieties of sunflowers. If I get a chance to see the sunflowers this year, I'll update you with some pictures and information.
