In the depth of winter I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer. - Albert Camus

Another season, another bucket list. Yes, I have a problem. But sometimes in our very busy lives we have to plan and schedule for simple enjoyment of life. The trick is to balance your list with simple things you can cross off with little trouble (and a huge sense of accomplishment) and things that really require some effort and planning. Make sure the list spans beyond Christmas and New Years or else you'll have a rather dull January/February/March. Here is the running list of things I'd like to do this winter:

  • See the national Christmas tree in DC

  • Go to a museum

  • Do a Christmas Light drive

  • Shop for gifts for other children (Santa’s Workshop)

  • Unwrap a book to read

  • Have hot cocoa and cookies with friends

  • Go sledding

  • Have a Christmas movie night with treats

  • Have lunch at a special restaurant with friends

  • Wear new jammies to bed

  • Decorate cookies

  • Gingerbread houses

  • Build a snowman

  • Have a snowball fight

  • Make a snow angel

  • Spend a snowy day watching movies in my jammies

  • See a play or musical

  • Try a new soup recipe

  • Throw a game night at home

  • Wear something that sparkles

  • Take a walk in the snow

  • Develop an indoor workout routine

  • Build a fire

  • Go skiing or snowboarding

  • Go for a walk in the snow

  • Donate food

  • Make s'mores

  • Make flavored popcorn

  • Pick a fun project and do it

  • Watch the Geminid Meteor shower

  • Try something new to ring in the New Year

  • Galentine's Day

  • Make a New Years resolution that can be completed in January

  • Get together with someone I haven't seen in a while
