"Listen! The wind is rising, and the air is wild with leaves. We have had our summer evenings, now for October eves!" - Humbert Wolfe

Last Saturday I went on a gorgeous hike with my sister and a friend. I'd been meaning to do this all summer but I couldn't coordinate a good group. Not only did I want to strike this item off of my fall bucket list, but I was dying to see the fall foliage from Skyline Drive in Virginia.
Skyline Drive is the road that cuts through the Blue Ridge Mountains in Shenandoah National Park. It gives you stunning views of the mountains and the valley at all times of the year.
We drove along the road enjoying the views and stopping at overlooks until we reached the central district. From there we parked and headed up the mountain to take in the views from Mary's Rock.
We stopped along the way at a beautiful rock jutting out over the cliffs and assumed we'd reached our destination. There were photoshoots and giggles and high fives. We eventually realized we still had a ways to go until the real Mary's Rock. The view did not disappoint, but, if I'm being honest, fake Mary's Rock was more special because it was just ours. We didn't have to share.

If you're looking for a gorgeous adventure on the east coast, I'd highly recommend Shenandoah. It has stunning views, campgrounds, picnic sites and fun for the whole family. You'll find Luray Caverns and a large hedge maze as well as a museum and some shops.
